About me:
Gunplay Records is the first Independent Rap Label formed out of Erie, Pa. The Gunplay movement was started in early 1997, between Garceon Tha Don, Quack G, and Gangsta Dutch. Produced by J-Pad Da Juggernaut, the three formed the group Gunplay Gangstaz and started recording songs. It started out as a hobby, just something to do, but soon became the main focus of the group. Eventually, Da Juggernaut left the city and moved to Pittsburgh, Pa and Quack G assumed the role of the group's sole producer. In this time period, Gunplay Gangstaz formed, the label we know now, in the year 2000. E-Bizzness, who was instrumental in the formation of the group, helped to form the label and is also co-CEO. Since the formation of the label, Gunplay has worked with a number of artists, and helped to start indirectly, many of the artists you hear now coming out of Erie. Gunplay Records has also brought national artists such as JadaKiss, of the LOX, Juelz Santana and Jim Jones, of Dipset. They have performed for these acts and others such as Ludacris, and DJ Unk. Gunplay Records, at one time, boasted a roster of Gangsta Dutch, co-CEO, Quack G, founding member, Baby Cannon, Hoff Da Bo$$, Garceon Tha Don, co-CEO, Yung Blaze, Boss Gotti, Yung Murk, Mr. 357, King Joe, Act, Gruff, and Yola. Now the company is moving the direction of promoting their upcoming artist, Stradagist, arguably one of the most talented artists in the city if not the world. At the helm of production once again is Super-Producer J-Pad Da Juggernaut, who in his own right, is a legend in Erie and helped numerous artists throughout the city and the region.
